THROWBACK THURSDAY | Mac D

It is yet another Thursday, and it is time to unwind with today’s TBT selection. Today, we will spotlight the one and only Ilala Native, Benjamin McDennis Kamtawa, who is more widely recognized by his stage name, Mac D. The song we will feature today is called “Lazizi,” which includes a female R&B trio known as Unique Sister.

Mac D & Unique Sisters

Mac D has been actively collaborating with the Kipozi Sisters (Unique Sisters) for years. He previously partnered with them on the track “Nakupenda Si Utani,” and they also collaborated on a Unique Sister song titled “Bounce.” The synergy between Mac D and Unique Sisters seems to be remarkable, resulting in numerous joint efforts.

Throwback Thursday | Jos Mtambo – Alinacha (1997)

It is yet another Thursday, and as is tradition, we will choose a track that represents this week’s throwback 🔙. Today, we will highlight an artist from “Kigamboni”, Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania named “Jos Mtambo“.

He was a member of a groundbreaking group in Tanzania known as “Fun With Sense“. The track featured this week is titled Alinacha, performed by him. I must convey my admiration for Jos Mtambo, as his unique rapping style, combined with his impressive and meaningful lyrics, encourages one to listen to the track multiple times. This joint came out in 1997.
