Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi, who is professionally recognized as Mbosso or Mbosso Khan, was born on October 3, 1995, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is celebrated as a talented singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, enchanting audiences with his soulful voice and profoundly emotional storytelling. Mbosso first gained significant attention as a prominent member of the renowned Yamoto Band (2012–2017), a group that played a pivotal role in transforming the modern Bongo Flava genre with their hit songs and distinctive sound.
Currently, Mbosso has made a comeback with a compelling new single, “Pawa” — the highlight track from his newly released EP titled Room Number 3. This EP signifies an important milestone in his career, representing a new beginning and his courageous emergence as a self-assured independent artist. The title, Room Number 3, symbolizes a personal space for growth, self-exploration, and artistic freedom.
“Pawa” (which translates to Power in Swahili) is a love ballad steeped in profound emotion. Utilizing rich metaphors and fluid Swahili expressions, Mbosso likens love to a powerful force—so intense that it leaves him feeling powerless: “naishiwa pawa” (I’m losing power). His vocals seamlessly glide over a melodic blend of Bongo Flava and soulful instrumentation, achieving a harmonious balance between vulnerability and admiration.
The EP comprises six enchanting tracks along with one exclusive bonus song, highlighting Mbosso’s growth and maturity as he fully embraces his creative identity.
