Audio | T.I – Let Em Know

Following the successful returns of Clipse, Mobb Deep, and De La Soul last year, T.I. emerges as the latest veteran in the rap scene aiming for a comeback.

After dedicating the past few years to his comedy career and the expediTIously podcast, alongside navigating several legal challenges, the Grand Hustle leader declared over the weekend: “T.I. is back.”

Tip initiated his comeback journey by unveiling a new single titled “Let Em Know,” which is produced by his long-time collaborator and Producer of the Year contender (due to his contributions to the Clipse’s Grammy-nominated Let God Sort Em Out) Pharrell.

With a lively, bass-heavy beat from Skateboard P, who has previously worked on T.I.’s hits such as “Blurred Lines,” “I’m Serious,” and “Get Back Up,” as well as the majority of his 2014 album Paperwork, the Bankhead bully confidently returns with a boastful anthem.

“All they do is fight for number two ’cause I’m the one / Still make ’em play with the one / All we know is success, hit her with some rich sex / Good luck gettin’ your bitch back, she forever mine ’til I let her go,” he raps.

In addition to his musical revival, T.I. has also cut his dreadlocks and reverted to his signature low fade — the polished hairstyle he sported during his prime in the 2000s.

Throwback Thurday | Gangwe Mobb Live Performance – Ngangali (Sugu’s Muziki Na Maisha Album Launch 1999)

It is another Thursday, and today our attention is directed towards Temeke, focusing on a rap duo that received significant airplay on Tanzanian FM radio stations during the 1990s and early 2000s, particularly for their track that we will discuss. The group under consideration is Gangwe Mobb, known for their song “Ngangali,” which was their debut single from their first album, “Simulizi La Ufasaha,” released in 2000.

What I am about to share is a live performance of this rap duo from 2001 at the Mabaga FreshChombo Cha Dola” album launch. It was an extraordinary event, and on that day, numerous artists performed live alongside them. To mention a few, there was an outstanding performance by Mr. 2, also known as Sugu, as well as Lady Jay Dee, Big Dog Posse, Manzese Crew, and Mac D, among others.

Here is a two-minute video featuring Gangwe Mobb performing their hit song “Ngangali.” Enjoy this rare performance by this rap duo.

THROWBACK | Mabaga Fresh – Tupo Kamili

It is yet another Thursday, and today our “Throwback Thursday” feature spotlights the group “Mabaga Fresh,” also known as “Chombo Cha Dola.” This hip-hop duo comprises two individuals with disabilities, Jumanne Omary, commonly known as “JB,” and Chritoms Mwingira, referred to as “DJ Snox,” both originating from Temeke, Dar-es-Salaam.

During the 1990s, this rap group made notable contributions to the Tanzanian “new generation music scene.” They played a crucial role in introducing one of the most prominent and esteemed bongo flava artists, Juma Kassim Kiroboto, also known as “Juma Nature,” with their hit song “Mtulize,” produced by the legendary DJ Boni Luv.

Today, we will concentrate on their song from their debut album titled “Tupo Kamili.” This track is one of those that fans adored, and every time they performed it live, the audience went wild.

Throwback Thursday: Hashim Dogo – I Smoke Emceez

It is another Thursday, and this one is particularly significant. It marks the first Thursday of the year 2026. Given this occasion, our selection for the Throwback Joint of the week is Triple OG Hashim Rubanza, also known as Hashim Dogo, featuring a track he recorded in 1998 at Bongo Records under the guidance of P Funk Majani.

The song is titled “I Smoke Emceez.” In this piece, the title itself is quite revealing. Hashim begins the track with the phrase, “And here is Little Some Local,” while cleverly mimicking Bob Marley’s hook from “I Shot the Sheriff,” slightly altering it to align with his concept for this joint.

This song consists of four verses; however, today I will only present the first two verses along with the chorus. This is one of the rare and exceptional tracks he has ever produced. N.B. Special thanks to J4 for sharing this audio.
