Throwback | Hard Blasters Crew – Kubwa Kuliko Ft Mr Teacher

It is Thursday once more, and today we are honoring the 90’s Tanzanian Hip Hop ensemble, The Hard Blasters Crew. Our focus today will be on their third and final album, which was released in 1999 after being recorded at MJ Records. This was possible after the addition of Joseph Haule, known as Professor Jay, who was formerly referred to as Nigga J. This album, titled “Funga Kazi 2000,” included well-known tracks such as “Chemsha Bongo,” “Mamsap,” and “Chuzi Limekubali.” The entire album was produced by Ludigo Bishota.

The featured track of the day is called “Kubwa Kuliko,” which is also part of this LP and includes contributions from Prof Jay’s older brother, Julius Haule, also known as “Mr Teacher.” In this collaboration, they address detractors and those who envy their achievements, asserting that this track is a heavyweight. Tanzanian hip-hop sensation Rostam, comprised of Roma Mkatoliki and Stamina, presents a socially conscious anthem with their latest track “Abdul“. The duo, celebrated for their bold lyrics and exceptional synergy, is leaving a significant impact on the East African rap landscape with music that is both intellectually stimulating and entertaining.

The song ‘Abdul‘ narrates the heartrending tale of a young man navigating the severe challenges of life in Tanzania. Oktoba Tunatiki’ transcends being merely a song; it represents a movement. Released on 26 August 2025, the track is closely associated with the general elections in Tanzania. It aligns with the campaign theme of the ruling party CCM under President Samia Hassan Suluhu, promoting political engagement while encapsulating the vibrant spirit of October’s nationwide activities.

Tanzanian rap heavyweight Joh Makini, whose real name is John Simon Mseke, unveils his latest creation, ‘A City’, a vibrant hip-hop anthem infused with Afro-sound elements. THROWBACK | Complex Ft. A.y – Muda Ndio Huu.

It is Thursday once more, which signifies the arrival of this week’s
Throwback Joint. Today, I wish to honor my friend, Protege, and
companion from the very start, the late Simon Sayi, also known as
Complex. I will be showcasing a collaboration he created with Ambwene
Yessaya
, who is known by the stage name A.Y., on a track entitled MUDA
NDIO HUU
, produced by Amit Mentor.


Next month marks 21 years since Complex’s passing. I will continue to
remember you, my brother. May your soul find eternal peace. Amen.

THROWBACK THURSDAY | Mac D

It is yet another Thursday, and it is time to unwind with today’s TBT selection. Today, we will spotlight the one and only Ilala Native, Benjamin McDennis Kamtawa, who is more widely recognized by his stage name, Mac D. The song we will feature today is called “Lazizi,” which includes a female R&B trio known as Unique Sister.

Mac D & Unique Sisters

Mac D has been actively collaborating with the Kipozi Sisters (Unique Sisters) for years. He previously partnered with them on the track “Nakupenda Si Utani,” and they also collaborated on a Unique Sister song titled “Bounce.” The synergy between Mac D and Unique Sisters seems to be remarkable, resulting in numerous joint efforts.

Chino Kidd, recognized for his popular track “Chino Wanna Man,” infuses this song with an engaging mix of Amapiano, Bongo Flava, and Afrosound. Having begun his career as a backing vocalist for prominent artists such as Rich Mavoko and Marioo, he has now established himself as one of the most thrilling talents in the East African music industry.
