Throwback Thursday | Black Rhyno Ft Fatma – Don Dada

It is yet another Thursday, and you know what that means? It is time for this week’s throwback joint. This track was released 16 years ago and is one of those infectious songs that compels you to nod your head. The track is titled “Don Dada” by the one and only Black Rhyno, featuring Hardmad’s sister, “Fatma“.

Nicholaus Haule, better known by his stage name Black Rhyno or Black Chatta, is a distinguished Tanzanian hip-hop artist, entrepreneur, and former banker. He is highly regarded in East Africa for his musical contributions and has made notable advancements in both business and philanthropic endeavors.

Don Dada” was produced by Ambrose Dunga, also known as “Mandugu Digital“. He created the beat for the song at Pinnacle Records, and after departing from the label, Black Rhyno recorded the vocals at 41 Records. For mixing and mastering, Dunga teamed up with another talented producer named “Chizan Brain“. Together, they ensured that the project reached its maximum potential.

Fatma” contributed one of the most memorable hooks of all time to the song, making this track one of my favorites from Black Rhyno’s album titled “Usipime“. This album is available on all major music platforms, including Apple, YouTube, Spotify, and even the East African platform Mdundo. The album features hits such as “Black Chatta“, “Usipime Ft Dully Sykes“, “Usije niacha Ft Chid Beenz“, “Happy Ft Noorah“, and many more.

Tanzanian Bongo Flava artist Nandy, affectionately referred to as The African Princess, has made her return with the release of “I Hate That I Love You,” a poignant slow-tempo ballad that delves into themes of love, attachment, and the anguish associated with a toxic relationship.

I Hate That I Love You” was officially launched on June 12, 2026,and was produced under The African Princess Label and distributed by Ziiki Media. The production credits go to Kimambo Beats, while the songwriting is attributed to Faustina Charles Mfinanga, known professionally as Nandy.

The track examines the internal struggle of loving someone who elicits both joy and emotional turmoil. In her lyrics, Nandy characterizes her partner as both “sugar” and “stress,” illustrating the painful dichotomy of being emotionally tied to someone who continually inflicts hurt.

Tanzanian music icon Ferooz, whose full name is Feruzi Mrisho Rehani, has made a comeback with a new Bongo Flava audio single titled “Msobe Msobe.”

Officially launched on June 15, 2026, “Msobe Msobe” represents another significant addition to the discography of one of the pioneering voices that contributed to the formative years of Tanzanian Bongo Flava. The song embodies a traditional Bongo Flava essence, merging melodic narratives with contemporary Tanzanian beats.

Ferooz is fondly remembered as a former member of Daz Nundaz, a prominent group in the annals of Tanzania’s music scene. He is also celebrated for his timeless tracks such as “Starehe feat Professor Jay“, “Maji Ya Shingo” and “Kamanda,” which established him as a leading figure in the early 2000s. He also did a hook for “Nikusaidije” by Professor Jay. This was one of those golden hooks of all time by Ferooz.

His inaugural solo album, Safari, released in 2004, is regarded as one of the landmark projects in the history of Bongo Flava. With “Msobe Msobe,” Ferooz continues to demonstrate his enduring impact, re-establishing connections with long-time fans through the sound and storytelling that solidified his reputation in Tanzanian music.

Tanzanian Bongo Flava icon Q Chief, also referred to as Q Chilla, concludes his TimeLess project with a compelling collaboration titled “Baba Lao,” featuring fellow Tanzanian stars Dully Sykes and Country Wizzy.

Officially launched on May 20, 2026, “Baba Lao” is positioned as Track No. 10 on TimeLess, a comeback album that honors Q Chief’s legacy and impact as a prominent figure in the Tanzanian music scene. The project, released under OrbitMziki, also showcases artists like Young Lunya and Christian Bella.

Baba Lao” serves as a bold and dynamic anthem centered on themes of confidence, success, street influence, and veteran status. The title, which translates to “Their Father” or “The Bossman,” signifies the trio’s dominance in the Bongo Flava and hip-hop landscape, as they share insights from their wealth of experience, resilience, and earned respect.

Tanzanian Bongo Flava/Rap artist from Arachuga “G Nako“, whose real name is George Mdemu, collaborates with Darassa on the vibrant track “Pakata,” a high-energy Bongo Flava party anthem that was released on June 12, 2026.

The song “Pakata” features two prominent figures in Tanzanian music, with G Nako taking the lead and Darassa contributing his distinctive lyrical style. The track was executive produced by G Nako himself.

The title “Pakata” is derived from Swahili, meaning “to hold” or “to carry,” which aligns perfectly with the song’s lively atmosphere. Mansu Li has released the highly anticipated single, “Holiday,” featuring the bongo flava/R&B artist Damian Soul, further enriching his growing collection of hits in 2026. The track was produced by Gachi B and officially launched on June 13th, 2026.

Mansu Li reinforces his position as a significant voice that embodies the spirit of entertainment and culture, effectively connecting hip-hop artistry with Tanzania’s dynamic music landscape. Known for his rich vocals, articulate delivery, and outstanding storytelling skills, Mansu Li once again blends the energy of hip-hop with distinctive Tanzanian rhythms, showcasing why he is considered one of East Africa’s most respected rap artists.

Throwback Thrusday | Jay Moe Ft A.Y – Misosi, Mitungi Na Pamba

It is yet another Thursday, and as you all know, it is time for the throwback joint of the week. This week’s joint comes from an artist who has thrived in this industry for over 26 years. Some refer to him as Mteule, others as Mawazo, and some as Moe Tekniks, representing the Makumbusho/Sinza area of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Born as “Juma Mohamed Mchopanga,” he is widely recognized by his stage name Jay Moe, a legendary hip-hop artist and songwriter from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, born on November 27, 1978. He is celebrated as one of the pioneers of the Bongo Flava music genre.

Jay Moe gained prominence in the early 2000s after being introduced to the public through his early groups, such as Wateule and Wabakiaji, before embarking on his solo career. He released his debut album “Ulimwengu Ndio Mama” in 2002, which is regarded as one of the finest hip-hop albums in Tanzania. His distinctive lyricism and storytelling quickly established him as a household name.

The joint we will focus on today is from this debut album, titled “Misosi, Mitungi Na Pamba,” featuring Mzee wa Commercial “A.Y,” born “Ambwene Yessaya.” This track discusses the theme of enjoying life. The title “Misosi, Mitungi na Pamba” translates to “Food, Alcohol, and Wardrobe.”

Both Jay Moe and A.Y were eager in their pursuit of a music career, making this collaboration timely. They demonstrated their lyrical prowess, supported by the beat produced by P Funk Majani from Bongo Records. This track is one of the standout songs from the album, which contains 15 tracks.
