Tanzanian Bongo Flava artist Chege Chigunda has released a new single titled “Ubaya,” featuring Tanzanian music industry leader and accomplished singer-songwriter Mbosso.
The composition was produced by esteemed WCB Wasafi producer Lizer Classic, merging Chege’s characteristic narrative approach with Mbosso’s expressive and melodious vocal performance. The song received its official release on September 11, 2026,through Ziiki Media.
“Ubaya” explores themes of romantic attachment, emotional loss, repercussions, and reconciliation following disappointment experienced elsewhere. Rather than addressing previous hurt through retaliation, the composition conveys a sophisticated perspective encapsulated in its striking chorus: “Ubaya silipizi ubaya” declining to counter harmful actions with similar conduct.
Mbosso initiates the composition by depicting the emotional state of an individual returning wounded and depleted following a challenging romantic involvement, whereas Chege advances the narrative with contemplations regarding how circumstances shift and how affection, financial matters, and disloyalty can strain relationships.
Through its compelling narrative, memorable refrain, and the artistic synergy between two prominent Bongo Flava performers, “Ubaya” emerges as a poignant partnership centered on absolution, accountability, and progression.
