Tanzanian vocalist, composer, and music producer Mocco Genius, whose birth name is Idd Mohamed Ngomba, collaborates with renowned Bongo Flava artist Alikiba, born Ali Saleh Kiba, on an innovative composition entitled “Single.”

This composition serves as Track No. 4 within Mocco Genius‘ KANDA EP, an artistic endeavor conceived as a homage to preceding generations—specifically the period during which music consumption was predominantly facilitated through cassette recordings and broadcast radio.

Via the KANDA EP project, Mocco Genius establishes a bridge between historical and contemporary musical landscapes, honoring the sonic elements, cultural heritage, and artistic innovation that have fundamentally influenced the musical preferences of the current generation while recontextualizing that nostalgic sensibility through a contemporary lens.

On “Niko Single,” Mocco Genius and Alikiba transform romantic disappointment into a lighthearted affirmation of independence. The composition chronicles an individual who has experienced profound romantic disillusionment and has ultimately concluded that maintaining an unmarried status proves preferable to enduring the hardships of a dysfunctional partnership.

Alikiba contributes his distinctive narrative approach and refined vocal performance to the composition, reflecting upon experiences of disloyalty and emotional suffering before enthusiastically adopting single status, whereas Mocco Genius reinforces the significance of recognizing when to relinquish rather than perpetuate a relationship that has fundamentally deteriorated.
