Tanzanian Bongo Flava musician Marioo, whose real name is “Omary Ally Mwanga,” collaborates with Nigerian artist Chella, born “Uzochukwu Michael Ikechukwu,” on the vibrant remix titled “Sugar 2.0.” This track is a cross-continental collaboration featured in Marioo’s EP, MMMCXII.
Positioned as the sixth track on the MMMCXII EP, “Sugar Remix” builds upon the success of Marioo’s original solo hit “Sugar,” which debuted on April 17, 2026. The original version garnered attention through the Sugar Challenge and its catchy phrase “Bia Tamu,” establishing it as one of Marioo’s notable romantic tracks.
Musically, “Sugar Remix” fuses Bongo Flava melodies with smooth Amapiano influences, resulting in a sweet and danceable sound. The song employs “sugar” as a romantic metaphor, symbolizing a lover who brings joy, sweetness, and flavor into the artist’s life.
With Chella contributing his distinctive vocal texture, the remix broadens the song’s appeal beyond Tanzania, bridging East African and West African music through its melody, rhythm, and themes of romance. The original track was produced by S2Kizzy, if you like you can call him (Zombie), while the executive production of the EP was overseen by Kaniba Creator under Marioo’s Bad Nation label.
